About Me

Hello! My name is Ewelina Wolnowska. I’m a self-taught freelance illustrator based in Munich, in love with picture books and children’s illustration.

Drawing, creating images and storytelling have accompanied me throughout my life. My background in architecture had influenced my current work and helped me develop my creative voice as an illustrator.

In my day to day practice I enjoy sketching characters and placing them in a variety of settings and situations to get to know them better and boost my creativity to come up with unusual character-driven stories. Drawing from life and urban sketching are essential for me and have a big influence on my work back in studio. I mostly get inspired by observing people and their daily life, travelling and nature. Mixed media techniques allow me to explore every project individually and experiment with different art materials to achieve the best results and create unique illustrations. I love playing with patterns, textures and colours. While drawing and inventing stories I connect with my inner child which I believe brings a nice personal touch to my illustrations. Apart from making children’s book illustrations I enjoy creating images for various projects, such as stationery or surface pattern design.
